Sounds by Sonific -> jamming induced blogging haze.

One word….sweet. I was exploring my usual domains while slugging back an IBC Cream Soda (shameless plug for my coding fuel of choice??) and thanks to WordPress discovered Sonific. A site that allows you to compose your own playlist and create a widget for your blog. Now your subscribers (I’m not cool enough to have any groupies yet) can swing, jam, juke to your creative composing.
Sonific has a pretty decent selection of types of musics and categories. Everything across the music genres including blues, electronic, rock and religious. How it works is simple -> create an account, then your playlists, take the code and pipe it into your blog. There are no annoying DRM or shark-suited fat lawyers from the RIAA there to threaten to crush your soul if you even think about listening without their specific approval…rather they have licensed the music directly from the artists. The kick is a scratch your back scratch ours type of deal. Sonific wants you to use their widget to enhance your blog and the musicians want free press to generate interest in their creations. Once you create your playlist you generate code that you paste into your blog. What you see is a nice little flash widget that gives information about the song and artist currently playing and allows you stop/play the music while reading. Not bad. I’m currently in beta mode with it…consider it rc1 if you will as I’m still learning the ropes, but so far I like what I see. Don’t expect to see majors on here (yet), but there is a HUGE selection of music and genres, I was rightly impressed by the size of their library. So again…one word for Sonific…sweet.
Stands to reason you’re asking what type of tunes will you find on my site? I’m pretty eclectic really. You’ll find my tastes cover big band/swing, certain types of jazz, blues, classic rock, christian…but a lot of what I listen to nowadays is techno. I get made fun of at my bill-paying job, but I find it puts me in a zone with the rhythm of the back beat and trancing waves of motion where I can scope my target and complete my tasks.
Some all time artists you’ll find as a steady stream to my ears -
AeroSmith / Paul Van Dyk / Michael W. Smith / Genesis / Ingrid / Daft Punk / AC-DC / Newsboys / Toby Mac / Glenn Miller / Paul Oakenfold / Henry Mancini / Moby / Pink Floyd /
